Improving Care for Low Birth Weight Infants in the Era of Covid-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Literature Review

Background: Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) acute respiratory syndrome, also known as COVID-19, has spread exponentially around the world. COVID-19 attacks all age groups including neonatal group because of very high infection rate. Low birth weight (LBW) babies are a population that is susceptible to contracting their immature immune system. LBW at risk experiencing vertical and horizontal transmission due with controversial management care. Therefore, improving evidence-based care in era pandemic control measures needed prevent transmitting COVID-19. Purpose: This study aims provide understanding evidence on caring related which considered reduce threat LBW. Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out by following Update Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) gain insight into pandemic. Specifically, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, ProQuest databases were searched identify relevant articles. Of 274 research articles produced, 14 met inclusion criteria included review. Results: Covid-19 such breastfeeding, kangaroo method care, living mothers accordance important increase scientific awareness about Covid-19. Conclusion: The time low when precautions protect baby taken. short-term long-term impact if mother breastfeed rooming-in using appears be smaller than physical separation infants not breastfeeding this era.
